Step-by-Step Guide: Setting Up CueMaster for Live Events Setting up your CueMaster lighting control console properly is the single most important factor in ensuring a flawless live production. Whether you are managing a small theater production, a corporate conference, or a live concert, a structured installation prevents critical signal failures mid-show. This comprehensive guide walks you through the initial hardware deployment, fixture configuration, and live cue layout execution. Phase 1: Hardware Connections and Power-Up
Physical preparation establishes a clean control loop between your console and the fixture rig.
Place the Console: Set the physical desk or your control laptop on a stable, flat surface with a clear line of sight to the stage.
Connect the DMX Line: Plug your primary DMX-512 5-pin XLR cable into the DMX Output port on the back of the console. Run this cable directly to your first fixture or DMX opto-splitter.
Attach Peripheral Displays: Connect an external monitor to the VGA output port to get live, color-coded tracking of your channel layout and settings.
Boot Up the System: Turn on the external monitor first, then toggle the main power switch on the CueMaster. Allow the system to complete its internal boot cycle. Phase 2: Proportional Soft-Patching
Before you can control a single light, you must link the console’s control channels to the physical DMX addresses of your fixtures. The CueMaster II supports soft-patching up to 288 control channels across 1024 dimmers. Technical Management – Cuemaster
